Tax Law Changes for Individual
The standard deduction is as follows:
- Married - $24,800
- Head of Household - $18,650
- Single and Married filing separately - $12,400
- Annual exclusion for gifts is $15,000
- Maximum earnings under full retirement age to receive full Social Security benefits $18,960 for 2021.
- Business standard mileage rate is 57.5 cents per mile, medical 20 cents per mile.
- Child tax credit is $2,000.
- Contribution to an IRA increased to $6,000, additional $1,000 if over age 50.
- Miscellaneous Itemized Deductions have been removed which includes Unreimbursed Employee Expenses, Home Expenses, Legal Fees, Investment Fees etc.
- New laws for divorces starting in 2019
- If you did not receive your stimulus payment you can claim the recovery rebate credit.
